Treasures Trading Post in Lombard Illinois
Today I had the pleasure of meeting Eric and Melissa who work at
Treasures Trading Post on St. Charles Road in Lombard. I had been there
once before on my lunch break and had a glimpse of the shop but couldn't
wait to get back on a Saturday when I could peruse the record stacks in
greater detail.
When I say stacks, I mean not just stacks, but piles here, piles there, piles everywhere (and boxes full)!
At the risk of revealing my fishing hole, I came away with a decent stack of vintage 45's. Condition not great and they will need cleaning but the price was right and I found stuff I hadn't seen in years.
Even picked up some sheet music:
I also happened to leave with a box of vintage magazines which I will cover in the next installment of the blog.
The shop has a great layout with clearly defined departments (but not overly organized, just right).
Musical instruments have a few sections; I spotted a few accordions in one room and guitars in another.
Vintage gumball machines.
Every music format is represented. Besides the aforementioned 45's, you've got lps' 8 tracks, 78's and CD's
Lots of old toys including trains, games and model cars.
I will be returning soon because I only had time to scratch the surface of this gem. And it has the vibe that makes us pickers want to just hang out and explore.
