One Gold Nugget in a Pile of Junk

Feel sorry for folks trying to do a garage sale on a busy street. This one looked good, though so I parked across the street in the industrial lot.

Amazing how some people can hoard so much stuff but not have anything anybody wants....

Except for this antelope planter....

Other recent finds....

nice set of paint by number landscapes

Nice beige Swingline

Vintage Krazy Ikes set

A cuppla ash trays including a Paul Powell Secretary of State souvenir. Paul Powell was the guy who had a shoebox full of bribe money that was discovered after he died.

Iphone 7....they are making it heavier and bigger so its harder to lose.

If you just collect can openers, you could fill a house with the variations.

Tough to find single by the Taffys

Nice toy safe. Too bad I don't know the combination.

On a related note, this old wooden piggy bank turned up at Uncle Frank's house. I remember this from when I was a kid. In fact I remember it as being mine.....No money in it, unfortunately.

Amphicar and Wooden Boat fever in Tavares Florida

March 2015: in Tavares Florida for the annual Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival.

The show was not limited to basic boats, however. Several hybrid vehicles turned up as well, including planes that think they are boats. Tavares bills itself as the Seaplane City and indeed, we were able to see several seaplanes land and take off during this gala 3 day event.

These are not huge planes, but for those brave soles who ride in them and ride in them, the size is probably just right. For this writer, observing them is adequate adventure.

Cars also had trouble deciding if they were supposed to travel on land or water. Here the first of 17 amphicars makes it up the ramp.

A nice lineup of Amphicars. Amphicars were produced in Germany from 1961-1965 and
feature English Triumph 4 cylinder engines. As the name implies, they were designed to travel on both land and water. About 4000 were produced and not many survive today. They have become a hot collector item whose owners meet regularly at 'swim-ins' where they not only have a lot of fun, they also serve as entertainment for those watching from the shore.

Of course rare vintage wooden boats were on display...

Vintage Gar Wood.

Anything nautical could be found in the tents surrounding the show.

Clever nautical theme bar was a big hit.

Author Lisa Anders displays her aqua romance novel 'Love at the Lake'.

Restoration services advertised their wares

Nice wooden models in original boxes. If you had to ask how much, you can't afford them.

Lots of vintage outboard motors.  This was the belle of the ball at $2250.

But plenty to choose from.
 Glacier Girl
The rare finned Cobra. Several of these gems were on display
Some folks even brought their vintage woody vehicles. This Ford may been the best.

We had an opportunity after the show to visit  Gator Amphicar where Dave (Dave the Wave) Derer restores his amphicars.

Fleaing at Renningers Mt.Dora

Sunny but cool day, perfect for flea marketing in central Florida.

Renningers is a huge flea market just outside of Mt. Dora. No entrance or parking fee is a plus.

Dealer Eddie had some interesting stuff, including what looked like a tiny violin case...

But held a bottle of booze and a shot glass!

But what caught my eye and took my money was this complete
card of 45 inserts...this was something I have never seen before but even better it
is flat meaning it will be easy to transport back home in my luggage.

In Old Florida, the spelling its not always perfect.

Merikay spots something unusual:

A couple of old carnival ride airplanes.

Lots of miscellaneous here...

In summary, we had a pleasant morning of picking and saw some stuff we don't normally see.
