You Cannot Order From Vintage Guitar Catalogs!

I picked up these catalogs/brochures in various stores in the mid 60's and happened to hang onto them.

I wanted a Vox, Gretsch, Fender or Gibson, but I could only afford Sears and Wards back then. My first electric was a Sears display model which I purchased for $15. My first acoustic was a mail order Wards Airline which I ordered for $16 but right after ordering, an excise tax was repealed which knocked a buck off the price, making that one also $15.

Vox was known for the Super Beatle amplifiers and the teardrop guitars.

Fender had the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster, Jaguar and Mustang guitars. Their amps were also popular. Fender was not as successful with their acoustic guitars.

Gibson was successful with electric and acoustic guitars. This particular brochure only covered their electrics.

Gretsch specialized in electric archtop guitars exemplified by the Country Gentleman and was known for its association with Chet Atkins. This brochure is complete with price list.

Remember folks, you cannot order guitars from vintage catalogs!
